Abstract: Integrated Social Studies Instruction is a handbook designed for high school social studies teachers and focuses on integrated thematic units. It presents theoretical questions related to integration. The authors discuss the objectives of integration, why it is needed, and the curriculum integration methods in the teaching process. The handbook also presents numerous cooperative learning methodologies and effective teaching strategies recommended for civics teachers to utilize in their classrooms. Moreover, the book includes six thematic unit samples with lesson plans and accompanying assessment assignments that teachers can experiment with. Teachers can also creatively modify the assessment assignments or create their own units based on the samples.
