Abstract: This study is focused on the theory and practice of assessment and its place in civic education. The study presents the types of assessment, formative and summative assessment methods, and propositions about the connection between assessment and civic education standards. The second part of the study deals with different forms of formative assessment and presents interactive techniques for assessment during the different stages of the civic education process. Another part of the study discusses the role of the civic education teacher as an effective evaluator.
