Abstract: Albanian civic education standards were elaborated in 1997 but still have not been introduced. The civic education curriculum was developed on the basis of the standards for grades one through four. The key topics are the individual, the social group, the family, education, the local community and the nation, and rules and citizenship. For grades five through eight, some of the topics are community, the division of power, economic relationships, Albania, and global problems. For ninth and tenth grades, topics include social groups and institutions, citizenship and laws, the role of the citizen, human rights and responsibilities, political parties, global problems, and international relations.
