Abstract: These standards define broad the competencies and knowledge necessary for mastering civic education at the high school level. The basic competencies and skills required are in the following subject areas: exploring and understanding democracy, social roles, the process of participation in the life of the community, knowledge of the rights and responsibilities of the citizen of Bulgaria, knowledge and understanding of the process of European integration and of European citizenship, and mastering the project method as a way for personal and social development.
