Abstract: This textbook includes all the subjects listed in the citizenship studies curriculum (Category 1, Item 1). It is second only to the official textbook published by the Ministry of Education (Category 1, Item 2). The book is composed of chapters that describe the different approaches to the Jewish state, explain principles of democracy, and elaborate on the politics and government of the state of Israel. The book is unique in its treatment of subjects in the form of dilemmas (e.g., the welfare of the citizen versus the welfare of the state, nationality and equality, rule of law versus human rights, representation versus efficiency of government). This book offers numerous resources from Israeli newspapers and various exercises and activities.
