Abstract: This document is the official listing of the subjects chosen to be taught in the mandatory citizenship studies lessons for high schools. These subjects are divided into three groups: (1) the state of Israel as a Jewish state (e.g., the meaning of a national state for the Jewish people, approaches to the Jewish state, and the connection between the state of Israel and Jews in the Diaspora); (2) democratic principles (e.g., liberty and equality, sovereignty of the people, rule of law, democratic rights, and political culture); and (3) the government of the state of Israel (e.g., citizenship laws, the parliamentary government system, elections and political parties, and the role of the media).
